In the early 1890’s there were about 30 quarries operating at one time in Rocklin, many of these cutting street curbing for the larger cities. Some of the buildings made with Rocklin granite include the Bank of Italy, now Bank of America, the United States Mint in San Francisco, part of the state capitol, city hall and the county jail in Sacramento, and many others.
Rocklin is among a string of family-friendly communities that comprise the southern portion of Placer County. Located along Interstate 80, the city of approximately 60,000 people boasts views of the Sierra Nevada and Sutter Buttes. Rocklin’s location makes it ideal for those wishing to take advantage of rich and abundant recreational opportunities while still enjoying the amenities of a thriving suburban city.

Known for the expansive planned communities of Stanford Ranch and Whitney Ranch, this intimate municipality is also home to pockets of smaller neighborhoods boasting their own sense of character. Families prosper with a wide selection of excellent public and private schools. Springfield at Whitney Oaks is an expansive gated active adult community.
Rocklin Unified School District is known for academic excellence, offering residents some of the top schools in the region. City officials ardently promote Rocklin’s exceptional quality of life, and stay true to their word by maintaining 30 parks and 200 acres of open space. Enrichment and recreational programs abound, including half-marathons, 5K obstacle courses, and after school programs. In addition to its own long list of outdoor opportunities, Rocklin is only 20 minutes from Folsom Lake. In a two-hour drive, residents can find themselves either on the shores of Lake Tahoe to the east or the sands of the Pacific to the west.
